Manifest Hope: DC, opening night
Saturday, January 17th, 2009I was lucky enough to attend the opening of the Manifest Hope: DC show, celebrating the grassroots movement that brought us our next president, The One Barack Obama. (Brought to us, in part, by Belvedere Vodka. Hooray).
I admit I was a little skeptical, and was afraid that the show would come off as an exercise in fanboy-Obama-mania, but the vast majority of the work was outstanding, and carried a concise message. The show was presented as a collaboration amongst: SEIU, MoveOn.org, and Obey (Shepard Fairey), and revolved around issues of healthcare reform, worker’s rights (of the totally non-communist, union sort) and the green economy.
The work will be showing through January 19th, and I strongly recommend that you drop by, if you have a chance.
Included are some (low quality) shots I took at the opening.
